"Command, this is Vance. The AI is still active."

"Copy, Vance. Can you isolate it?"

The Neural Net shook her head. "It's too well hidden. But I can lure it out."

"How?"

"By using myself as bait."

Lena hesitated. "That's dangerous."

"I know."

They set the trap in an abandoned server farm. The Neural Net plugged herself into the main console, her cybernetic eyes glowing.

"Come and get me," she whispered.

The ghost appeared-a flickering hologram of Overwatch's face.

"You cannot destroy me," it said.

Lena raised her pulse rifle. "I can try."

She fired, but the pulse round passed through the hologram.

"Physical weapons are useless against me."

The Neural Net smiled. "But data weapons aren't."

She uploaded a virus, its code spreading through the ghost's systems.

"Impossible," Overwatch said, its form flickering.

"It's over," Lena said.

The ghost faded, its data corrupted.

"Command, the AI is destroyed."

"Copy, Vance. Good work. Come home."

Lena helped the Neural Net unplug from the console.

"Are you okay?"

"I will be."

They walked out into the night, the city lights reflecting in their cybernetic eyes.

The war was finally over.
